The corridor was deserted and silent, just like every other night. It stretched out before him, leading to old storage rooms and the main hospital exit. There was no sign of any person, no hint of movement—only the eerie, lifeless stillness of the hospital after dark.
Nathan lingered for a moment, his breathing shallow and unsteady, before stepping back inside the morgue. He locked the door behind him, the faint memory of that rustling noise still haunting his ears.
