Maybe I’m just overreacting and being silly, Nathan thought, trying to calm his racing heart. It’s all just a prank I haven’t figured out yet. But the longer he stared at the live camera feeds, the more his doubts and fears grew. The morgue looked far too still, far too quiet. He’d heard the noises, seen the shadows with his own eyes—but now… there was absolutely nothing to see.
He leaned back in his car seat, feeling frustrated and confused. Maybe whatever’s haunting the place only shows up when someone’s inside the room, he reasoned with himself. They won’t do anything if I’m just sitting out here in my car looking stupid. He checked the time repeatedly, feeling the hours drag on slowly. Still nothing happened. Maybe it had all just been in his head. Maybe he’d been chasing nothing but empty shadows.
