Carl clenched his jaw tightly, fighting hard to hold back his rising anger. This was absolutely unbelievable. After days of stressful negotiations and back-to-back work tasks, he’d been counting on a peaceful, roomy business class ride home to recharge.
“So just because the flight is oversold, I’m the one who has to suffer?” he asked, his voice tight with obvious frustration. “Am I supposed to spend five whole hours crammed into a tiny economy seat with barely any legroom at all?” Noticing other nearby passengers turning to glance at him curiously, he forced himself to take another breath and hold onto his composure.
“I know this is incredibly frustrating, Mr. Williams,” the agent replied gently. “As compensation, we’ll fully refund the price difference between your business and economy ticket, plus give you a travel voucher for your next flight with us.” Carl shook his head in disappointment. A simple travel voucher could never calm his frazzled nerves or ease the exhaustion from his brutal business trip.
