Despite being utterly exhausted, Carl felt a strong sense of pride and accomplishment. He’d successfully locked down a huge, promising business deal, a well-earned reward for all his hard work and relentless dedication. These rare moments of professional success were the only things that made his demanding, high-stress career feel worthwhile.
Now, sitting and waiting at the airport departure gate, all Carl wanted was a chance to unwind, decompress from the stressful trip, and mentally reset before heading back to his daily work responsibilities. He’d planned this flight as his much-needed personal break, a precious few hours completely disconnected from the never-ending chaos of his job.
He leaned back in the stiff, uncomfortable airport waiting seat and checked his watch for what felt like the hundredth time in ten minutes. Just ten more minutes until boarding began. He let out a long, relieved sigh. After days of nonstop work chaos, he was beyond ready to settle into his cozy, spacious business class seat and relax on the long flight home.
As the minutes ticked slowly by, he daydreamed about stretching his legs out fully and enjoying all the extra space and premium perks that came with a business class ticket. He’d paid extra to upgrade specifically for this flight, knowing he desperately needed the comfort to recover from his taxing work trip.
Right on schedule, the gate agent’s voice crackled over the intercom, announcing boarding for all business class passengers. Carl jumped to his feet eagerly, boarding pass in hand, and hurried to the front of the boarding line. Just a few more steps, and he’d be sitting comfortably with a relaxing drink in his hand.
