The woman refused to back down, firing back, “And you’re not being respectful either, yelling at a mother in front of her child!” The argument turned into a full public spectacle, a messy clash of tempers in the tight airplane cabin.
Just then, the elderly woman sitting next to Carl turned to him with a firm but concerned look. “Young man, that’s quite enough,” she said firmly. “The boy has stopped kicking now, and carrying on with this argument will only ruin everyone’s flight, including yours.” She gestured around at all the passengers staring their way.
Carl looked around and felt his face burn with embarrassment. He’d gotten so caught up in the fight that he hadn’t realized how big a scene he’d made. He knew the elderly woman was right. With a deep sigh, he turned back to face forward, trying to calm down and focus on the clouds outside his window.
But the boy’s mother couldn’t resist one final sarcastic jab after hearing the older woman’s advice. “Yeah, listen to her. Women are always right, aren’t they?” she said loudly, her tone full of mockery. Carl’s hands clenched into fists again, his anger flaring right back up.
